Tell me, where is Gandalf?

Found these pictures from Halloween 2011, when me and my friend Alina decided to dress up as Lord of the Rings inspired elves. I thought they had a cool feeling to them, so I decided to post them now in honor of The Hobbit premiering...

I'm running out of post-ideas! Suggest something cool in the comment box, ok?

christmas lights, another fight.

And I'm back again! Sorry for the long silence, I need to start updating more frequently. It's just that when it gets dark quickly, it's hard to take nice pictures. And I don't really feel like updating my blog if I don't have any pictures to post.

Anyway, a while ago I went to Cambridge with Nana to do some shopping and catching up. We hadn't seen each other for a long while, so we had loads to talk about. I'd seen this lovely looking cafe the other day, so we decided to check it out. They happened to also have food there! And not just food, lovely food. We both ended up having tomato soup and hummus. Yum. Gonna do that again Friday, probably!

The Christmas lights were really, really pretty! I don't know why, but I really like Christmas lights..

Over the hill

Snowdon mountain climbing // Wales 2012

Felt like such an achievement reaching the top. Then I realized I had to get down again.
I managed to do that, felt quite proud of myself afterwards.

to fight this feeling that is growing in my mind

Chinese Lake Autumn // Portmeirion 2012

Possibly one of the most beautiful things I've seen in a while.
That lake was like a mirror, still and bright.
A surface that reminded me of a watercolor painting.

I see London, I see Sams town

A couple of weeks ago I visited London with my exchange-student friend Marta. It was a nice trip, and I'm not going to go into too much detail, as this post would then become even longer than it already is with only half of the pictures I'll be posting. So consider this a part one, all though these pictures aren't really in any chronological order. Nerds as we are, we had to visit platform 9 3/4. Felt like a wizard. Some random muggles walked past the queue looking at us in a strange manner.. muggles..

I didn't go to London in shopping purposes. I only bought the new MUSE album and food. We ate sushi in the park, and I had the most lovely hot chocolate in Cafe Vespa. That cafe reminded me a lot of Bossaliina, my favorite cafe that shut down last year.

We did visit Camden Town as well, but the pictures I took there didn't turn out that great.. anyway, more about London in the next post c:

between the bars.

I'm living with the cutest of cats, Lily(who is a boy by the way) and Rose(a boy as well). Rose is a wanderer that comes and goes how he likes, Lily is almost always at home. I love cats, so I'm happy to be living with these two.

Went to Cambridge for some beauty-product shopping, as I have ran out of everything at the same time. I've been really pleased with ocean salt as my face scrub before so I decided to repurchase the full-sized pot this time. That face mask I bought also does wonders. Leaves my skin feeling soft and calm. Also bought some stuff for my hair and two bath-bombs.

I'm an owl now.

Just wanted to share the awesomeness of my new pajama-thingy with you! Isn't it adorable?
I love owls, so just imagine me finding this at primark. I was really happy, and just couldn't resist grabbing it. Is it weird that I like strolling around the pajama-section? haha.. oh well, I reckon this will be very nice when it gets colder(it already is getting colder..)

When you're up for it before you've grown.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually enjoy school. It might be because of the fact that it's all new and exciting, or the fact that I've chosen only subjects that really interest me(drama, music, media studies & English language and literature). Then again, after a couple of weeks I'll be working hard, because A-levels aren't the easiest to do, especially when you jump right into them from basically nothing, while the other students have done their GCSEs. But working hard always pays off, and this year I'm determined to be a good student.

btw, my school building looks like Hogwarts.. Even the stairs, I swear they move when no one's looking...

you got me got me like this.

A few pictures from yesterday in Cambridge. I went there with my exchange-sister Annabel and Nana from Norway and had probably the best day here so far, all though my new shoes were hurting my feet quite much. 7 hours of going from shop to shop, who said shopping isn't exercise? Stopped a few times at Starbucks to chill out a little. Their blueberry muffins are the best.

Look outside at the raincoats coming, say OH

Went punting at Cambridge today and saw all the colleges and stuff like that. It was a really relaxing experience, and a fun way to learn something about the city. Been hanging around Cambridge until the late afternoon, and surprisingly didn't do too much shopping. Maybe that's a good thing...

I did bring home these babies. My first Dr. Martens. I quite love them.

a quickie update!

Hello from my campus-room! So, I'm in Winchester, England now. The flight yesterday went really well. I've always liked traveling, especially flying. I have way too many bags, though. Imagine me with a huge suitcase, a smaller suitcase, a fabric-bag and a guitar-case! OVERPACKING IS ONE OF MY TALENTS!

So, now you must be wondering: How is England?
Well, it's certainly very, very different from Finland. First of all, the weather is unpredictable. In the morning it was really freezing, and it started raining heavily when I came from breakfast. Then after a while it was all sunny again... weird.

I want to go and explore the city a bit more, but I didn't want to go alone. So, I'm sitting in my room and playing the guitar. I just hope that someone will go to the centrum with me later. I want to go to primark, haha!

a redhead.

I cannot describe with words how happy I am about my new hair! For once, the hairdresser actually listened to me and did exactly what I wanted. I've thought about going ginger for quite a while now, and I finally took the jump and became a redhead!

My exchange year starts tomorrow. I'm so excited about it! Can't wait to meet new people and experience new environments(and go shopping....) Right now I'm doing some last minute packing, but I wanted to update my blog one last time here in Finland. Next time I'll be updating from England.

Stay tuned for my adventures in the land of afternoon tea and good music!

16 days and counting.. Actually, I'm not counting days. I never was. I live in the moment.

A very good friend of mine celebrated her birthday yesterday.
"Don't leave to England", someone said to me, followed by a hug. Then it hit me.
It's happening.
It's real.

I've been really busy all summer, so I haven't really had time to think about anything. I feel like this wave of panic is slowly creeping on me, and I don't like it. I've never been the "nervous-type", but this time I feel really scared. I don't think I've ever been this frightened about anything. It's not that I'm scared of new environments, languages or new people. No. I'm scared about leaving everything I have here behind. I'm scared that if I leave, people might forget me. That my friends and I won't be as tight as we used to be when I come back. That there won't be a place for me here anymore. I know that this probably isn't the case, but hey, everyone's afraid of something.. right?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining at all! I'm so happy that I get to see England, explore a new culture and meet lots of new people. I'm excited about taking courses that I never imagined taking and maybe finding a new hobby. I'm looking forward to sitting in my new favorite cafe, drinking some really good coffee and enjoying a great book or drawing. I know that some of my friends would've wanted to take the same adventure that I'm about to, but didn't have the chance to do that.

This was me opening up to you, letting it all out(or at least some of it). I wanted to get this out of my system for a while at least. Thank you for reading, the next post won't be this moody. I promise.
